Summer learning

With STLE, professional growth can fit in around your work—and your vacation—this summer.

As we start to wrap up the busy conference season, many in the STLE community are looking forward to rest, relaxation and recreation this summer. No matter what your plans are, it’s easier than ever to fit in some learning from STLE with multiple on-demand and on-the-go options for developing your industry knowledge and skills. Here’s a few ways you can keep learning all summer long.

Virtual Symposium: Additives—this summer’s virtual program will bring together leading additive and lubricant manufacturers for two half-day discussions on July 21 and 22, examining how different organizations approach the selection, blending and implementation of chemical additive packages—from antiwear and extreme pressure agents to friction modifiers, detergents, dispersants, corrosion inhibitors and viscosity index improvers. Attendees will gain insight into how formulation philosophies differ across manufacturers, how base oil chemistry influences additive response and how evolving equipment demands and regulatory pressures are driving innovation in additive technology. For more information and to register, visit www.pathlms.com/stle/courses/164857.

STLE Short Courses—with on-demand offerings on topics like basic lubrication, metalworking fluids and fluid management and recycling, a short course is a great way to gain a comprehensive overview of a technical topic, one module at a time. You can complete the course on your own schedule, and you will receive a certificate upon completion to prove your accomplishment. For more information and to get started, visit www.pathlms.com/stle. While you’re there, be sure to browse the full selection of on-demand recordings from STLE Webinars on a wide range of topics, from electric vehicles to oil analysis and sustainability to base oils.

STLE Special Reports— STLE offers special reports to inform readers about a complex issue, stay competitive in the industry, provide expert insight on the latest developments and offer educational content. Topics covered include sustainable lubricants, tribological challenges of a return to the moon, the evolution of turbine oils and more. Be sure to download one or more of these digital publications ahead of your summer vacation—they are perfect for reading on a flight or even at the beach. Visit www.stle.org/SpecialReports to browse the titles and download. If you haven’t already, you will also want to read the highly anticipated 2026 Report on Emerging Issues and Trends in Tribology and Lubrication Engineering, which just released last month. Visit www.stle.org/2026EmergingTrendsReport for more information and to get your copy—it’s available digitally only, and free for members and $20 for nonmembers.

Wherever this summer takes you, I hope you will bring STLE along, whether it’s through a short course, special report or even TLT. A fun fact about the June issue: it will travel on the most airplanes of any TLT issue as attendees head home from the 2026 STLE Annual Meeting: Innovating Through Tribology & Lubrication! I hope everyone joining us in New Orleans has a valuable experience, and that we all keep that momentum going all summer long.
