Fall back into STLE

October is a great time to get involved with STLE, whether you are new to the community or a long-time member.
Summer vacations are over, school is back in session, and everyone is settling back into their normal routines. As we head into fall, it’s a great time to catch back up with STLE and take advantage of the new opportunities and events we’ve been planning for the STLE community.
For the students in our community, there is no better time to begin your STLE journey. Here are the top ways to take advantage of how STLE connects you directly to the global community driving innovation in tribology, lubrication and related fields.

Become a student member—for free! Membership opens doors to professional development, networking and career-building opportunities that few other organizations can match. We encourage you to share the free student membership offer with your classmates as you return to campus. Visit

Apply for a scholarship. Applications for the 2026 scholarship program are now open through Dec. 1. Since 1995, STLE has given out $182,000 to more than 40 recipients to support career opportunities in the field.

Join an Industry Insights presentation. Industry Insights are an STLE member benefit, giving you a platform to collaborate with your STLE industry peers and an expert on the topic who will give a brief presentation, then facilitate conversation by asking discussion questions and providing actionable takeaways. Industry Insights registration is free for STLE members, including student members.

Nominate your exceptional colleagues for the 2026 STLE Awards. Nominations are now open for the STLE International Award, the P.M. Ku Award and the Raymond L. Thibault Award. Recipients will be honored during the 80th STLE Annual Meeting & Exhibition: Innovating Through Tribology & Lubrication in New Orleans, May 17-21, 2026.

Get involved with your local section. Local sections allow you to connect with other industry professionals in your geographic area, enhance your professional development and build your leadership skills. Their meetings and activities are now ramping back up after a quiet summer. Check the calendar at

Attend the 2025 STLE Tribology & Lubrication for E-Mobility Conference. Leaders in the e-mobility industry will gather from Nov. 19-21 in Troy, Mich, to network and share cutting-edge insights. Visit
