The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact that has affected everyone, both professionally and personally. As for personal goals, readers hope to survive and thrive through the pandemic and stay healthy. One reader said, “Continue to work on being a better person and improve my leadership skills for both home and work.” Also, readers hope to travel more when it’s safer to do so.

Q.1 What are your professional goals for 2021?

Keeping my job. The COVID-19 pandemic has prevented further advancement and canceled the goals that I had for 2020.

Grow company market share, particularly in the area of lubricants.

Retirement.

Make an impact at my new company.

To keep my company open and keep my job. The pandemic is making both very difficult.

Valued professional expertise.

I am striving to get to the business level from 2019 despite the tremendous business dip due to COVID-19. I also want to normalize within the new boundaries of doing business the relationships/communication and support to customers/suppliers and colleagues.

Build my new business to a successful, well-respected entity in the lubrication field.

I started at a new company in late 2019, so my professional goals for 2020 were to learn the product line of the company, where it is sold and how these products are used.

To work capably from home until the COVID-19 pandemic is vanquished.

Achieve a promotion by the end of the year and continue to educate people about tribology and actively show how it can be used to provide answers and improve understanding.

To increase company business and grow the future.

To enhance knowledge on varnish removal technologies in turbines and compressors and supervise a field trail at a customer site.

To continue to expand my company’s product line with synthetic and higher-quality offering. To continue training the laboratory people coming up behind me.

Learning more about vehicle electrification, including hardware and materials, with special interest in lubricants.

Get back on track from lost sales and developments.

Pass the STLE CLS exam, keep joining classes for training and learn new things.

To stay gainfully employed during these uncertain times.

To learn how to work under the COVID-19 restrictions and find new and enjoyable ways to engage, connect, learn and achieve.

Writing a few articles and obtaining funds to finance a research project.

To publish a book on fluid analysis for mobile equipment.

To continue to excel and grow in my current position.

Complete the projects, realize the pilot scale-up production of PAO base oil.

Improve the formulation.

Being a retiree from a major oil company, I now work for a lubricants distributor and really enjoy my job. Very different from my previous role, I am involved in many aspects on lubes technical support, sales, product management and product quality. My goal is to pursue this second career, no aspiration of climbing the ladder!

Get set in retirement.

For my farm to make a profit, which has not happened for the past six years.

Business: To increase the awareness of the companies that I work for. Career: To gain more employment. Professional goals: To continue learning about digital technology, which will help me achieve the above.

I want to advance as a lubricants engineer and get a job when I can develop everything I know, both commercially and technically.

My business goal for 2021 is to catch up from being behind by four months since COVID-19 started. I have never been busier. Even working from home, though it helped, didn’t stop the orders from coming. My career goal for 2021 is to get some more training for the challenges of the green economy to come.

Q.2 What are your personal goals for 2021?

Get rid of the COVID-19 stress and create low oil prices.

Survive the ridiculous increase in workload.

Enjoy retirement.

Survive through COVID-19. Develop my knowledge of emulsification and lubrication.

Promotion and salary raise.

My personal goal is to stay healthy and support the people around me (family, friends, neighbors, colleagues) to cope with the pandemic and stay positive.

Survive and thrive in this new age of COVID-19.

My personal goals for 2020 were to live a simpler life, live in the moment and appreciate all the good I have. This was before the pandemic was declared, and everyone was reduced to the same goals I started out with this year.

To stay COVID-19 free.

Continue to work on being a better person and improve my leadership skills for both home and work.

To achieve a position in which I can feel comfortable.

To recover my fitness to 2019 levels (lost due to rotator cuff surgery and rehab).

To stay healthy while working from home due to COVID-19 for the last seven months and further improve work life balance.

Continue to watch the trends in the lubricant business and to stay ahead of new ideas and products.

Maintaining the same figure and health.

Travel more.

Have adaptability for new things coming.

Continue to expand my knowledge through training opportunities and networking, most likely virtual for the time being.

Stay healthy, stay safe, make a contribution.

Travel to Africa.

To continue to improve in the way I interact with people.

Get vaccinated and be able to return to “normal” that includes safe travel.

To remain positive, healthy, active and employed.

Promotion.

To make wise decisions and fewer mistakes.

Climbing up the Stelvio by bike in two hours.

Sell the house, move into a condo, and enjoy life!

Get set in retirement.

Fish more.

Health: Get fitter. Home life: Complete the house decoration and finish the garden. Family and friends: Spread joy and hope.

To form a family and to have one or two children with my wife.

My personal goal for 2021 is to not get COVID-19 (or any other virus that might be lurking out there).

Stay alive! Encourage people to find peace and calm in this turbulent world. Do some traveling when Europe opens up.
