Qualifications for Fellow

The Fellows Committee shall evaluate each Proposal to determine whether the proposed candidate:

(1.) has met the practice and membership requirements set forth in the STLE Constitution and Bylaws.
(2.) has had five (5) sponsorship letters submitted on his or her behalf, two of which are from STLE Fellows.
(3.) has demonstrated outstanding personal achievement in the field of tribology and/or lubrication engineering.

Fellows Committee members will evaluate each Proposal individually to determine if the candidate meets the standard for outstanding personal achievements through significant contributions in management, education, research or technological areas in the field of tribology and/or lubrication engineering. Failure to qualify does not preclude submission of a new Proposal in the future.

The candidate’s accomplishments must be beyond those typically expected of a scientist or engineer in the field of tribology and/or lubrication engineering. The candidate should be recognized as an outstanding authority, as shown by his/her patents, books, articles published, or papers presented, or because he/she has been responsible for significant and widely known improvements in the field. Service to STLE shall not constitute an “outstanding personal achievement.”

The deadline for Fellow nominations is Sept. 30 of each year. Selection announced approximately February 1 of the following year.
