Dear Fellow Members,
STLE’s 75th Annual Meeting connected more than 1,100 industry professionals from around the globe for a virtual conference experience on May 17-20. I want to thank everyone who participated in and supported the event with 368 technical presentations, 29 sponsorships, and 65 exhibits.
As with any meeting of this size and scope, there were some aspects of the program that received high marks in our attendee survey and others that did not go as planned. That is unfortunate but somewhat understandable considering the pandemic and when conducting an event virtually for the first time.
What’s important to remember is that our organization was once again able to pursue its mission of serving the global tribology and lubricants community after canceling the 2020 meeting for safety considerations. STLE’s Annual Meeting Program and Education Committees spent several months planning the four-day conference and should be commended for their efforts, which wasn’t an easy task through the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the positive side, the virtual platform is now allowing STLE to provide registered attendees with free on-demand access to the conference through August 18. All technical sessions and presentation recordings are available, unless otherwise noted. Access to virtual exhibit booths is part of this service. Attendees who visit the booths can download literature and email booth staff for additional information. To access the virtual platform, please go directly to this link: https://stle2021annualmeeting.e-attend.com.
This added benefit for 2021 Annual Meeting attendees is just one of many things STLE will be doing in the coming months to advance our mission, maintain industry relevance, and deliver on the Society’s value proposition: Connect. Learn. Achieve.
Now that the 2021 Annual Meeting is part of our organization’s long history, I want to invite the tribology and lubricants community back to the 76th Annual Meeting & Exhibition on May 15-19, 2022, at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin in Orlando, Florida. I look forward to seeing you - in person - next year!
