Happy 80th Anniversary, STLE!

STLE started its journey on March 3, 1944, as the American Society of Lubrication Engineers, or ASLE, before changing its name in 1987 to the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers.

Anniversaries are a good time for organizations to look back on what has been accomplished but also to look forward as times have changed. Over the years, STLE has developed education, publications, committees, certification programs and more to keep pace with industry needs. As we plan for the next 80 years, STLE will continue to look for ways to evolve using our Strategic Plan as the guide. We will continue to focus on professional development, technology and innovation, communications and advocacy, and organizational excellence.

To highlight this anniversary, special events are being planned for this 2024 calendar year. Special merchandise with the 80th anniversary logo will be sold and we will continue to promote the anniversary at the STLE Annual Meeting, May 19-23, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

We invite the whole STLE community to join in these celebrations. You can use the social media tag #80YearsInMotion to share your favorite STLE memories and your hopes for our community’s future.

Thank you for being a part of STLE’s community for the last 80 years.
