2018 STLE Tribology Frontiers Conference
(Co-sponsored by ASME Tribology Division)
The Drake Hotel Chicago
October 28-31, 2018
Chicago, Illinois (USA)

Join tribology researchers from more than 25 countries in North and South America, Asia, and Europe for the 2018 STLE Tribology Frontiers Conference (TFC) to be held October 28-31, 2018 at the historic Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago.  Co-sponsored by the Tribology Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), The TFC's focus is the role tribology plays as the interface of physics, chemistry, materials science and mechanical engineering. The conference will feature three keynote speakers that will present talks on areas at the forefront of tribological science, and include technical sessions featuring submitted presentations from leading tribology researchers and institutions from around the world.

In addition to the student poster competition, new for 2018 the TFC will feature a special “Meet the PI” poster session where tribology thought-leaders will have the opportunity to workshop their ideas and get feedback from the technical community. Topics may include, but are not limited to, a recent advancement or development, an unexpected finding in search of explanation, a new passion project, new opportunities for tribology research in untapped areas, and general challenges to the technical community.

A special plenary session "Beyond the Cutting Edge" will be held featuring the best papers that have been originally published in the peer-reviewed journal Tribology Letters in 2017, as selected by Professors Nicholas Spencer and Wilfred Tysoe (editors of the journal).

Conference Highlights

  • More than 200 presentations on all aspects of tribology research
  • Plenary talks by tribology’s visionaries
  • Opportunities for networking and discussion with principal investigators
  • Archival one-page extended abstracts that are searchable and citable
