MINIMUM QUALITY LUBRICATION (MQL) PRESENT AND FUTURE TRENDS
This is the overview of Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) system; past, present and future trend. Many pioneers contributed in MQL process to reach the present status of MQL system in the industry.The pros and cons of MQL were discussed compared with the flooding system. The practical applications of MQL in machining process and necessary adjustments for implementing MQL process from flooding system were reviewed. Tools and tool holders, lubricant feeding device, chip removal unit, mist control and lubricants of MQL were discussed and reviewed the unique chemistry and physical properties of lubricants for MQL system. The great benefits of MQL system over flooding one in economical, environmental and health and safety at the machining plants was described. MQL programs in the automotive industries and the fate of MQL application in the industries were discussed.
