STUDY ON THE LUBRICATED POINT-CONTACT WITH OIL DROPLET

Oil-air lubrication is widely used in the high-speed rotary machine, where the fine oil droplet in a continuous stream separated by the compressed air is injected into the lubrication point. As is known, the fully flooded lubrication is well studied by lots of researchers in past several decades. However, the oil droplets appeared in air/oil lubrication may result in different lubrication performance, and even starved lubrication depending on the oil supply, thus fully-flooded condition must be modified to consider the change of oil supply. Based on the concept of fractional film content and Elord’s method, starved lubrication with considering the inlet oil supply condition was studied experimentally and theoretically.
