COMPARISON OF PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF NON-RECESS HYDROSTATIC-HYBRID CONICAL JOURNAL BEARING FOR VARIOUS SEMI CONE ANGLES

Now a day,there is a great increase in industrial demands to cater the need for high speed applications; hybrid journal bearing are most suitable for high load carrying capacity.Conical journal bearing is a radial-thrust hybrid bearing.The advantage of conical hydrostatic/hybrid journal bearing is that it can carry radial as well as axial load at the same time.Hybrid journal bearings are classified as recess and non-recess journal bearings,non-recess bearing are further classified as hole-entry and slot-entry hydrostatic/hybrid journal bearing.In the hole-entry journal bearing, holes are made around the periphery of the bearing and restrictors are fitted in it. Sharma et al. reported the supply hole size and number of holes significantly affects the bearing performance. In hole-entry journal bearing more surface area becomes available for hydrodynamic action. Rowe et al. reported that the non-recess hybrid journal bearing gives better performance than that of recess bearings.
