Modeling of Cage Guidance in a Rolling Bearing Multi-Body Dynamic Simulation Program for a Power Efficient Bearing Design

The importance of energy efficiency has been increasing and has become a quality criterion for bearing producers and users. That is why multi-body dynamic simulations are indispensable for a systematic development of new bearing solutions. The model performance for the elasto-hydrodynamic contacts between rolling elements and raceway is quite well with respect to friction calculation in most existing simulation programs. In contrast, the models for some cage contacts still consider friction insufficiently.
