On the Stribeck Curve Type of Behavior for Polycrystalline Diamond Thrust Bearings

The Stribeck curve study dated back to Hirn who discovered that the coefficient of friction was proportional to speed for journal bearinga. Thurston found that there was a minimum friction point. Stribeck conducted a systematic study and provided a clear view of the relationship of the coefficient of friction to speed. In recognition of his contribution, the curve is universally called “the Stribeck Curve."
