At the 2010 IJTC Professor Leon Keer, Northwestern University, USA, will be recognized for his contributions to the fields of contact mechanics and tribology. Professor Leon M. Keer was educated at the California Institute of Technology and the Institute of Technology of the University of Minnesota. He conducts research in the area of solid mechanics and investigates specialized topics of fracture and fatigue, surface mechanics and tribology, among others. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Mechanics, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Acoustical Society of America. In 1997, he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering. He received the Daniel C. Drucker Medal from ASME in 2003, and the Mayo D. Hersey Award from the ASME Tribology Division in 2008.
