Student Chapter

If you wish to start a student chapter at your university, you will need 10 STLE student members and in that number, you'll need a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary/Treasurer (1 person or 2 as volunteers are available). You will also need a Faculty Advisor for the chapter. Once you get together the list of names, that is taken to the Board of Directors and they can decide whether to approve your request. Once approved, you will have a Charter and By-Laws, and you can get started!

Local Section

First, check whether you have a section near you. The requirements include having 20 STLE members in your area sign a sheet saying they'd like to join/establish the section, in addition to having officers for your section. You will need a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer (Secretary/Treasurer position can filled by one person temporarily, as you build up your volunteer base). Once the list of names is compiled, the list goes to the Board of Directors and they can decide whether to approve your request. Once approved, you will have a Charter and By-Laws, and you can get started!
