Why should I recruit more members?

There is strength in numbers. Your STLE membership is one building block in creating a community of those involved with tribology and lubrication engineering. If you recruit another member, that makes the community that much stronger, robust, and diverse; creating an atmosphere of learning, cooperation, and camaraderie.

How do I recruit more members?

Read our Recruitment Tips for more information, but briefly, start by thinking about your co-workers, acquaintances, and other contacts you've made at work, or even friends who might be involved in the field. Who might be interested in being a member in this community? Then, take the next step and make a phone call, or write an email to start the conversation about STLE, our work, opportunities, and membership benefits. Your friends and colleagues can easily sign up to become a member by clicking on the Join STLE tab, and filling out the individual membership application online. They can also sign up over the phone by contacting us at (847) 825-5536. It's that easy! You may also think about utilizing STLE's social networking pages on LinkedIn or Facebook. You can share your STLE experience or Member Story through these media as well.

What are the benefits of STLE membership?

New members join a group of over 4,000 like-minded individuals working in the tribology and lubrication field. Member benefits include our monthly member magazine, Tribology & Lubrication Technology, our e-newsletter, discounted rates on everything from conferences to books to online education, networking with a community of professionals working toward the same goals, and more. You are probably aware of some STLE benefits that impact you directly, but if you are looking for a one-stop refresher, look to the Member Benefits page, or view some of the articles available on the MGAM Resources tab.

What is a Member Story?

A Member Story is your experience with STLE membership. It could include how you found us, why you stayed, benefits you received, and how it helped you grow in your career. If you want to share your Member Story, you can submit it via email to information@stle.org.

Why should I submit my Member Story?

This is just another way you can help with the campaign. If a member sees your story and it is similar to their current situation, they may be more apt to join. And in the future, if you meet a new member who shares your research interests and goals, and find out they joined because they read your story!
