Reliability Centered Lubrication is a relatively new concept to apply to a site lubrication program. As the title suggests, the idea with this type of approach is to tune the lubrication practices so that they are precisely defined to meet the operating requirements of the plant.
Many things have to be considered for a plant to achieve Reliability Centered Lubrication (RCL) practices beyond which lubricant goes where. The entire plan begins with the end in mind.
In this first event (of a three-event series on RCL) we will take a look at the strategy and overview the tactics involved in achieving RCL practices. We will also look at a critical aspect of this concept, which is making a business justification for the investment of time and energy to fundamentally change the way that lubrication activities are conducted.
