Abstract

The petroleum, chemical, and gas industry are examples of several diverse industries where gas and process compressors are used.  A process converts raw material into products, by-products, intermediate products, or waste streams. Hydrocarbons are found in natural gas, refineries, petrochemical industry, and a wide variety of other industries. Compressors in these industries represent a major capital investment and their proper functioning is critical to successful operation of a plant or pipeline. The correct choice of compressor lubricant can improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and reduce the costs of compressor maintenance. In many cases, the use of specialty or synthetic lubricants is required for compatibility with the gas, system components, or end product or to resist dilution by the gas being compressed.

In this webinar you will learn about the different types of lubricants that are used in gas and process compressors, some of the important properties compressor lubricants should possess and their proper selection. The focus will be primarily on positive displacement compressors and other compressors where the lubricant may come into contact with the gas being compressed, formulating with special types of mineral oils and synthetic lubricants to improve compatibility with the gas being compressed, and strategies for efficiency improvement and compressor reliability.
