Abstract
The purpose of the maintenance function is to preserve physical assets and make them available to perform their required functions, in a manner as good or better than originally required, all the while doing this with an adherence to effective cost management. Because we all know the effectiveness of the overall maintenance function can drastically impact productivity, we must now think of maintenance as a true benefit, and not a liability, bury the traditional view of it’s being a cost area and necessary evil. We will address the 9 Goals and 5 Levels of Maintenance that we utilize and also the difference between an Internal Service Support Operation and a Retail Driven Service and Parts Provider.
