Title: Environmentally Friendly Base Oils & Lubricants
Presenters: Laurie Gagne and Hyeok Hahn, Novvi LLC
Regulatory agencies and consumers are driving increased demand for environmentally friendly products. The talk will begin by exploring the meaning of “environmentally friendly” and how base oils are being produced to meet these criteria. Feedstock selection, technology, and base oil chemical composition will be covered. Environmentally friendly base oils are an excellent starting point for formulated lubricants, and air compressor oil will be discussed as an example. Reliable operation of compressors is essential to the uninterrupted and successful operation of manufacturing facility in modern days. A performance comparison will be presented between environmentally friendly and traditional compressor oils.
Laurie Gagne joined Novvi as Director of Business Development in 2014. She has a breadth of experience in industrial manufacturing, in both operations and commercial roles. Laurie is a graduate of California Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. She also holds an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Hyeok Hahn is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Novvi LLC and responsible for developing new compressor oil and transformer oil formulation based on biosynthetic isoparaffinic hydrocarbon base oil.
