Topic: The Evolution of Diesel Engine Oil Technology, and the Changing Direction of PC-11 and Its Impact on Future Diesel Engine Oil Technology
Speaker: Dave Taber, Senior Scientist, Phillips 66
Biography: Mr. Dave Taber began his career with Conoco in 1984 after earning a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Since 1986 he has worked in various positions in the lubricants business. His first job in lubricants in 1986 was quality control coordinator for the Ponca City Lubricants plant. He then became a lubrication engineer, supporting lubricant sales in the Southeastern U.S., with a focus on natural gas engine oil sales. He also has held the positions of OEM liaison for automotive products and Technical Coordinator for heavy-duty and natural gas engine oils. Dave currently is the Senior Chemist in charge of formulation development and optimization for heavy-duty diesel engine oils, tractor fluids and natural gas engine oils for Phillips 66 Lubricants.
Abstract: Mr. Taber will discuss the history and drivers behind heavy-duty diesel engine oil development, and the requirements for fuel economy that are part of the new diesel engine oil category, PC-11.
