12:00 PM - 01:30 PM

Join us for Advanced Filters & Filtration, a follow-on event to Fundamentals of Filters & Filtration. For more details, see below.

Advanced Filters & Filtration

Instructor: Dr. John Duchowski, HYDAC

Where: STLE University, live webinar event broadcast to your computer

When: Wednesday, January 22, 2014; 12-1pm Central Time, with additional Q&A 1-1:30pm

Cost: $39 for members; $59 for non-members

Abstract

The webinar will cover some of the more advanced concepts of filtration - some, because this field is presently undergoing rapid changes and intense development. For example, in contrast to the presently prevailing view, filter media and filter cartridge construction have outgrown the "one-size-fits-all" approach. This development was necessitated by considering the fact that not all hydraulic and lubricating fluids exhibit the same behavior and, similarly, not all hydraulic and lubricating systems operate under the same conditions.  Consequently, it makes little sense to propose to use the same filter media and similar filter cartridge construction to cover all of these diverse applications and environments.

Differences among various systems will be described and the approach for the development of the optimal filtration approach as derived from the prevailing operating conditions will be described. Various factors required to be taken into consideration during filter media selection and filter cartridge construction will be delineated and their impact on performance characteristics of filter elements will be described.

Biography

Dr. Duchowski graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, B.C. in 1985 and obtained his doctorate at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA in 1990. From 1992 to 2004, he held the positions of Principal Scientist in the Scientific and Laboratory Services Department and Vice President of Technology in the Machinery & Equipment Division at Pall Corporation. In 2005 he moved to HYDAC Technology Corporation where he currently holds the position of Director of Technology Development. His projects focus on the effects of physical and chemical contaminants on the performance of hydraulic and lubricating systems and on the fluids employed in those systems. Dr. Duchowski is a Fellow of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) and an STLE Certified Lubrication Specialist and Oil Monitoring Analyst, Levels I and II.

Dr. Duchowski previously gave the webinar, Fundamentals of Filters & Filtration. If you're interested in viewing this before you attend this event, click here to purchase (make sure you're logged in first, then click on the registration link above).
