Title: Tribological Evaluation under Extreme Conditions
Presenter: Carlos Sanchez, Ph.D. Graduate Student and STLE Research Award Holder, Texas A & M University, College Station.
Mr. Carlos Sanchez is a Ph.D. student at Texas A&M University. He has a BS and MS from the Texas A&M University. His major interest is in development and tribo-characterization of new and active materials and lubricants.
This presentation will provide the approaches and methods of tribological evaluation of coatings and lubricants in extreme environments. The testing of lubricants and coatings at temperatures ranging from -1000C to 10000C is crucial for the successful development of lubricants for high performance machines and engines. Carbon-based and MoS2-based solid lubricants are evaluated for these applications.
