10:00 a.m. – Pickup at Marriot Renaissance Center
10:00 a.m. – 11:45 Bus tour - We will cover a bit of history and fun facts about Detroit's automotive industry, architectural landmarks and music, while also discussing new revitalization in the City. We will explore the Foxtown entertainment district including the stadiums; Brush Park; the International Riverwalk; the downtown core; Paradise Valley and the Guardian Building. We will get off the bus and go inside the Guardian Building, referred to as the "Cathedral of Finance" and revered for its exceptional art deco architecture. We will conclude the morning's tour with a drive through the Heidelberg Project, an internationally acclaimed outdoor art installation created as a commentary about Detroit's neighborhoods.
11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. - Lunch at Bert's Jazz Club, in the Motown Room or the Jazz Room. We will enjoy a buffet of baked chicken, mac & cheese, green beans, tossed salad, fresh fruit, cookies and brownies, as well as treats Detroit is famous for, including Vernor's ginger ale, Faygo "pop” and Better Maid potato chips. Bert's is located in Historic Eastern Market; we will have an opportunity to hear from the Café owner about Detroit's music history, and see their impressive Detroit-themed murals.
12:45 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. - After lunch, we will spend time at Eastern Market. Option one is free time for shopping the market. Option two is for those who would like an escorted tour of the Market, narrated history and an art gallery visit (Red Bull Art House). Back on the bus, we will drive through Midtown and the New Center area, pointing out some key places such as the Fisher Building and the T-Plex where Henry Ford built the first Model T.
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. - Motown Museum
3:30 p.m. – arrive back at hotel
