EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH OF CYLINDER LINER WEAR BASED ON RECIPROCATING FRICTION MACHINE

Cylinder liner and piston ring are important working pairs in an internal combustion engine, and the cylinder liner wear is hard to measure in engines because of techniques difficulties. The main purpose of this study focus on investigating the tribological behaviors of piston ring and cylinder liner based on the Orthogonal tests by using reciprocating tribometer to simulate the motion of piston ring and cylinder liner in order to find the most significant factor that affects the wear resistance of cylinder liner during wear process, which could be useful for future work, and according to the Archard adhesive wear model, a simplified formula for wear coefficient K was found based on the experimental data through the three linear regression method. and through the F test it is shown that the wear coefficient formula is reliable at a confidence level of 97.5%.
