HYDRAULIC FLUIDS IN SERVO-VALVES ON HARSH ENVIRONMENT
Servo-valves have been used for many years in hydraulic systems because of their advantages, which include longevity in operation, low maintenance required and above all, accuracy. As you can imagine, these advantages do not come for free; Servo-valves may seem pretty expensive, but are worth every single penny they cost. However, if a servo-valve fails, it has to be replaced with a new one, and also can result in whole production losses. That is why it’s crucial to ensure your hydraulic fluid is reliable even under harsh conditions. In this case, we are going to analyze the failure mode and the cure for a Servo-valve on a hydraulic press in a glazed ceramic plant. This failure is caused by contaminated hydraulic fluid with raw materials involved in the process.
