SIMULATION OF PLASTO-ELASTOHYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION (PEHL) WITH ROLLING BEHAVIORS ON AN ELASTIC-PLASTIC SURFACE

Surface plastic deformation widely exists in many contact problems of mechanical components while subsurface stress caused by pressure distribution exceeds the material yielding limit. In the recent years, some numerical simulations of EHL considering plastic deformation have been conducted and characteristics of PEHL have been revealed, but however, it is still a great challenge to simulate a rolling behavior on an elastic-plastic flat in a numerical model because of the too huge harddisk consumption considering high-precision requirement. This work focusing on the model of a ball moving on an elastic-plastic surface to reveal its lubrication and contact characteristics.
