LUBRICATION WITH LIQUID CRYSTAL - MINIMIZATION OF FRICTION AT VARIOUS SPEEDS USING AUTONOMOUS CONTROL OF ITS VISCOSITY

By using a nematic liquid crystal (4-pentyl-4'-cyanobiphenyl (5CB)) as a base fluid with a fatty acid (n-hexadecanoic acid (HDA)) as an additive in an EHD contact, the boundary film of HDA induces the autonomous viscosity change of 5CB, resulting the minimization of friction at various speeds
