A STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF RING PACK STRUCTURE ON BLOWBY

The friction loss of piston ring-liner is up to 65% of the total engine friction loss. The appropriate ring pack structure can not only effectively reduce the friction loss and wear but also better improve the engine performance. Considering the coupling relationship between the piston rings dynamics and lubrication characteristic, the dynamics model of the piston ring pack is established in this study. And this model can achieve the calculation of gas flowing through rings and the oil consumption by analyzing the motion of piston rings. The simulation analysis is used to optimize the ring pack structure parameters. The research work in this study can be used to guide the ring pack design in the future.
