Microbiology in Bio-Concept Metalworking Fluids

Water-based metal working fluids (MWFs) are commonly used in manufacturing and machining industries. As MWFs may be populated by bacteria and/or fungi, microbial contamination has been a major problem in industry, primarily because of microbial-derived consequences on fluid quality, integrity and performance, and potential adverse health effects. Therefore, most MWFs are (pre-) treated with both bactericides and fungicides.
