STLE grants three academic awards through its Presidential Awards Program. These awards are administered by the STLE Presidential Council and are meant to encourage students to pursue an advanced degree or a career in tribology or lubrication engineering by subsidizing a research project related to the field. Their project is also published in TLT magazine upon completion. For more information about the award process, go to our Scholarships page.

E. Richard Booser Scholarship For Undergraduate Students
The purpose of the E. Richard Booser Scholarship is to encourage undergraduate students to pursue graduate degrees or a career in tribology by providing the opportunity for them to participate in tribology research. The student must be enrolled in an engineering or science curriculum. The recipient is selected on the basis of grade point average (GPA), letter of recommendation from faculty adviser, relevance of the research to tribology, and quality of the proposed research experience.

Elmer E. Klaus Fellowship For Graduate Students
The purpose of the Elmer E. Klaus Fellowship is to encourage graduate students to pursue graduate degrees or a career in tribology by providing the opportunity for them to participate in tribology research. The student must be enrolled in a graduate engineering or science curriculum at the time the research is started. The recipient is selected on the basis of grade point average (GPA), letter of recommendation from faculty adviser, relevance of the research to tribology, and quality of the proposed research experience.

Jeanie S. McCoy Scholarship For Women Students
The purpose of the Jeanie S. McCoy Scholarship is to recognize a female student pursuing an education or a career in tribology. The applicant must be enrolled as one of the following: an undergraduate student pursuing a degree with tribology science experience or graduate student pursuing a degree in the tribology sciences. The recipient is selected on the basis of grade point average (GPA), letter of recommendation from faculty adviser or educator, and quality of a submitted essay for publication in TLT magazine.
